We don't have a character like Jiminy Cricket to follow us around to remind us what to do, but neither would I say we have merely a conscience. We have a real Person ...the Holy Spirit to guide us.

It's not just your conscience that's saying, "Wake up!  Hel-l-l-o!"

You don't need to hide and pretend you don't know ...

There are those we say, "They have no conscience!" and we know the why and because ...

Of this or that, we say their conscience doesn't bother them, but we know it does.

Just telling it how I see it, if you ask why I'm so abrupt

We're not an innocent kitten, or a small adorable pup

We are intelligent enough people to know what's up

We show this to be true by our angry tone when it's brought up

Those tantrums and tirades only demonstrate after all that likely we're wrong

And perhaps I'm as bad at rationalizing, as I am with writing a poem or song

So let's abandon this rhyming and nonsensical imagination

And get back to a more healthy and proper translation

2 Corinthians 10:5, reads, "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ ..."

Proverbs 17:9, reads, "He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends."

Proverbs 18:8,reads, "The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly."

Proverbs 18:21, reads, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."

Ephesians 4:29, reads, "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers."
